COMMANDING OFFICER
COMMANDER KRAIG M. KENNEDY
Commander Kraig M. Kennedy, USN, was born in Seattle, Washington where he
attended the University of Washington and participated in the NROTC program.
Graduating in June, 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering,
he was subsequently commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. His first tour
was as Assistant Turret III Officer aboard the USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62). He then
served as third Division Officer aboard USS CHICAGO (CG-11), Anti-Submarine
Warfare Officer aboard the USS WADDELL (DDG-24), and Operation Officer for
Beachmaster Unit One. Following a tour as Engineering Officer aboard USS
OUELLET (FF-1077), he served as Material Officer for Destroyer Squadron
THIRTY-FIVE. He then served ashore at Navy Recruiting District Chicago, and
was next assigned as Officer Programs Manager for Navy Recruiting Area Five.
He returned to sea as Executive Officer of the USS BARBEY (FF-1088) in June
1982. In 1984, Commander Kennedy assumed command of Navy Recruiting District
Milwaukee. Following this shore command he returned to USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62)
where he served as Operations Officer. Commander Kennedy assumed command of
USS BREWTON (FF-1086) in August of 1988.
