USS BREWTON left Pearl Harbor 12 Aug 86 carrying 9 Radiomen and 4 Signalmen strong with several losing their strength when the ship started rocking and rolling. The trip was the first for some and the last for others. We visited several ports and had opportunity to see how other people lived and their cultures. It was relaxing and educational as well.

The responsibility of OC Div. Radiomen was to process the daily flow of incoming messages and send out communications originated by the ship. They also partially maintain their equipment and its associated antenna system.

Signalmen possess the training to send and receive messages and tactical info by flashing light, flag hoist, and the other mysterious language of semaphore.
