ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Engineering Department, made up of Boiler Technicians, Enginemen,
Electricians, Hull Technicians, Damage Controlmen, Interior Communication
Electricians, Machinist Mates and Machinist Repairmen, kept the Brewton
moving through the seas to meet all commitments. The BT's kept the boilers
fired up to keep steam moving to the MM's turbines and generators which
provided power to the EM's switchboards, motors, and fuses. The HT's and
DC's lead the fire parties and provide welding services. The EN's kept
the diesels up in case of a sudden emergency. The MM's of A Gang maintained
the ship's air conditioning and chill boxes.
