A/N consists of six different ratings, the HM's, YN's, PN's, QM's, PC, and the
command career counselor. YN's (Yeoman)- No matter what the work load during the
SouthPac, YN1 Resgonia, YN3 Jose, and YN3 Blackburn are ready for anything. From
change of command to typing short fuse instructions and notices to meet the
commitments of Brewton, they made things happen. PN's (Personnelman)- Setting
up emergency leave, transfers, and receipts were sometimes impossible tasks due to
different ports of call in foreign countries. PN1 White, PN3 Love, and PN3 Thomas
made things happen and were always diligently at work doing their best to satisfy
the needs and desires of their 275 enlisted shipmates. Quite a job for three people.
QM's (Quartermasters)- Whether it's the treacherous waters of the Great Barrier
Reef or the almost-charted South Pacific atolls, QM1 Ross, QM1 Shubik, QM3 Foos, QM3
Brown, and QM3 Evertsonwill get you there. Using tried ancient methods, the latest
60's technology and a bit of luck, our highly trained staff always knew where they
were at the time of the fix. So count on us if you're leaving home or just trying
to get there. And remember our motto; "Ain't no mud on our sonar dome!". NC
(Navy Counselor)- NC1 Connel was far away from communicating detailors but
managed to support the crew by sending messages and letters to satisfy personnel who
were transferring and reenlisting. HM's (Hospital Corpsman)- The HM's were kept
very busy in the South Pacific providing the crew with copious health care. We all
endured the 5 months of dreaded Monday morning maleria pills. There are about 30
of us who will never forget the Tongan special "Salmonella to go" at one of our ship's
parties. Throughout all the trauma cases, broken jaws, black eyes, mumps, hepatitis,
and various entertainment illnesses, the HM's were there to provide eminent indispensible
health care for the crew. Indispensible PC (Postal Clerk)- Our lone postal clerk was
responsible for handling the sporadic weekly incoming and outgoing mail throughout our
isolated ports of call. Mail was definitely the highlight and moral booster for the
crew. AG (Aerographers Mate)- A special addition to our crew was AG1 Williams (Easy
Money), our own weatherman to prepare us for meteorological conditions that lay ahead.
MA (Master at Arms)- MA1 Jackman the man of law and order, reporting to the
Executive Officer. Maintaining discipline, enforcing regulations, and conducting
investigations for the well being of the crew - MA's take part in correctional and
reabilitative programs such as Executive Officer's Investigation, and Captain's Mast.
