OI Div.

High tempo Battle Group Operations brought the best out of the OSs and EWs as they kept BREWTON'S operational readiness at a peak level. The CIC team was recognized for its excellence when it earned its fifth consecutive (Gold) CIC "E" and was selected as runner up in COMSEVENTHFLT ASW Excellence Award. The EWs and OSs completed numerous exercises while continuously monitoring the activity of friendly and hostile platforms during all phases of the deployment. Highlights of the cruise included NGFS quals in the Phillippines, Weapons Week at the Diego Garcia OPAREA and numerous Anti-Submarine Warfare OPS.

It's the responsibility of OI Div. OSs to staff CIC and use sophisticated radar techniques to plot surface and air contact positions; keeping the bridge informed of the ship's relation to its surroundings. They also assist in the coordination of target info for surface and underwater attack situations.
