Movie Clip #1 - WS Division Wog Show, Southpac 1988. This clip was shot on the flight deck during the Crossing of the Line festivities. It features Chris Rinehart, Bob Baker, STGSN Joseph, and others performing a skit. According to the announcer, this is "An ancient, Slavic fertility ritual. An offering of excrement is made to the gods for cleansing. Then the planting of the sacred seed on the offering of the priestess who will consume the offering, and spread the sacred seed to the winds." Don't you miss crossing the line? Movie Clip #2 - EW3 Wilde gets the wog treatment, Southpac 1988. A group of shellbacks give EW3 Wilde a hard time. "This is the Indian Ocean!" says one shellback, putting a bucket of seawater in front of Wilde, "And there's a sub in there. Now go active and find it, you sonar puke!" Movie Clip #4 - Interview with Captain Craig Kennedy, April, 1989. This clip was taken during a Dependent's Day cruise to Maui. Movie Clip #5 - Change of Command Ceremony, 17 August, 1988. This 10 minute clip shows the Change of Command from Captain Mallet to Captain Kennedy. The ceremony was performed on the flight deck, while the ship was underway. This really is rare footage! Still pictures of this event can also be seen in the Westpac 1988 cruise book HERE.
